Crane Maintenance:Overhead Crane and Gantry Crane

For cranes, the subsequent maintenance is equally important. Since cranes are heavy machinery, safety in use is also an issue of equal concern to our crane manufacturers and customers. Below are some maintenance methods for overhead cranes and gantry cranes for your reference:

Single-girder cranes maintenance with 6 checklist：

1. Frequently check the temperature of the motor casing and bearing parts of the single-beam crane, the noise of the motor, and whether there is any abnormal vibration.

2. When the crane is started frequently, the ventilation and cooling capacity will decrease due to the low rotation speed, and the motor temperature rise will increase rapidly due to the large current. It should be noted that the motor temperature rise cannot exceed the upper limit specified in its manual. Adjust the brake according to the requirements of the motor instruction manual.

3. When the crane is not used very frequently, and the sealing condition and the use environment are good, the lubricating oil in the crane gearbox needs to be replaced every six months. When the use environment is harsh, it needs to be replaced every quarter. If water enters the tank or there is foam on the oil surface, and it is confirmed that the oil has deteriorated, the oil must be changed immediately. When changing the oil, the oil should be replaced in strict accordance with the instructions of the gearbox, and oil mixing must be avoided using.

4. The daily maintenance of the reducer can refer to the manufacturer's manual for maintenance. The reducer’s anchor bolts should be checked frequently, and the connection should not be loosened.

5. Maintenance and maintenance skills of the crane winch unit: often observe the oil window of the gearbox to check whether the oil level of the lubricating oil is within the specified range. The lubricating oil must be replenished in time if it is lower than the specified oil level.

6. The bearing seats at both ends of the reel need to be filled with grease every two days, and the surface of the reel and the steel wire rope should be coated with grease according to the situation. The rolling bearings of the fixed and movable pulleys need to be replenished with grease once a month!

Gantry cranes maintenance with 6 checklist:

1. Lubrication

The working performance and life of each mechanism of the crane depend largely on lubrication.

When lubricating, the maintenance and lubrication of mechanical and electrical products refer to their own manuals, and the traveling carts and lifting trusses should be lubricated once a week. The hoist is filled with industrial gear oil, the oil level should be checked frequently and replenished in time.

2. Wire rope

Pay attention to the broken wire of the wire rope. If there are broken wires, broken strands or the amount of wear reaches the scrapping standard, a new rope should be replaced in time.

3. Spreader

Spreaders must be inspected regularly.

4. Pulley block

Mainly check the wear of the rope groove, whether the wheel rim is cracked, and whether the pulley is stuck on the shaft.

5. Wheels

Regularly check the rim and tread, and replace them with a new wheel when the rim is worn or cracked to 10% of the thickness.

When the difference between the diameters of the two driving wheels on the tread exceeds D/600, or serious scars appear on the tread, it should be polished again.

6. Brake

It should be checked once per shift.

The brake should act accurately, and the pin shaft must not be stuck. The brake shoe should fit the brake wheel correctly, and the brake shoe clearance should be equal when the brake is released
